ELECOM to add small-size models to the EGG MOUSE series,
its lineup of highly popular egg-shaped optical mice. |
In late July, ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Junji Hada) will add "EGG MOUSE mini" to its EGG MOUSE series, a lineup of highly popular 3-button optical mice designed with an egg motif and featuring a sophisticated shape that fits in the palm.
In the late 1980s, few users had any need for a mouse, and not much thought was given to its design. Under those circumstances, in 1988 ELECOM released EGG MOUSE, a unique mouse featuring an egg-shaped design that created a sensation in the market of computer peripheral equipment. In 2008, ELECOM released a new EGG MOUSE series designed under the same concept as the original EGG MOUSE, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series' debut. The new EGG MOUSE series won the Good Design Award 2008, once again grabbing market attention.
In the summer of 2009, ELECOM will release the EGG MOUSE mini series, a more compact version of the new EGG MOUSE series, to meet a broader range of user needs.
In principle, the EGG MOUSE mini series is based on the new EGG MOUSE concept-designed with the motif of an egg, a familiar object for everyone and with universal beauty, and incorporates features now regarded as standard in mouse devices: three buttons and an optical sensor. A striking feature of the EGG MOUSE mini lineup is the compact size, about half of the new EGG MOUSE in volume. Its compactness, combined with its round, oval shape and palm-fitting design, increases ease of use for women and children, for whom conventional mice may be too large. The cable length is short (0.8 m), which offers perfect portability for netbooks and mobile PCs.
The optical image sensor with 1,000 dpi resolution ensures stable and smooth operation. The EGG MOUSE mini series, designed to require no installation of special drivers, allows easier use for all users; simply connect via a USB port on a computer to use. The series is offered in eight attractive colors, making it fun to choose your favorite color or coordinate with your PC (including netbooks). With eight colors to maximize the cuteness of its round, oval shape, the EGG MOUSE mini series creates a cheery and colorful atmosphere wherever you use it. |
