ELECOM to release fatigue-relieving mouse pad FITTIO
Jointly developed with Yokohama Rehabilitation Center

In mid-April, ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Junji Hada) will release a new series of fatigue-relieving mouse pad, FITTIO, jointly developed with Yokohama Rehabilitation Center to alleviate user fatigue associated with operating a mouse.
In today's society, computers are an indispensable tool in everyday life, used by a diverse range of people from children to the elderly. Despite their convenience, however, when used for a long time computers can cause annoying physical conditions such as stiff shoulders and arm fatigue. For those who suffer from fatigue associated with computer use, ELECOM has developed a new series of mouse pad, FITTIO, in cooperation with Yokohama Rehabilitation Center. The Center has much experience of developing user-friendly products in collaboration with enterprises and universities through its expertise in rehabilitation engineering.
To help reduce the fatigue caused by mouse operation, FITTIO has been designed by focusing on the following four aspects: angle, height, shape and material.
As for the angle, the operating surface of FITTIO is designed to slope at an angle of 1.5°, which keeps the entire arm from wrist to shoulder positioned naturally. So the user can operate the mouse with a comfortable posture.
As for the height, the series is offered at two different heights of the hand-rest section: High (17 mm) and Low (9 mm). This is because the optimum height of the hand-rest section varies according to each user. In the FITTIO series, everyone, especially those who have been unsatisfied with the higher hand-rest section of conventional mouse pads can choose the type with a hand-rest section of the height that best suits them.
As for the shape, the series features a smooth and round design that allows the hand-rest section to fit the user's wrist naturally. The hand-rest section is designed to have the natural smooth shape created when a user’s hand rests on a mouse pad, so that the pressure is dispersed, not concentrated on the wrist.
As for the material inside the hand-rest section, the series features EXGEL®, a high-performance material made in Japan and widely used in products in various fields including medical care, welfare and car racing. The EXGEL® is an ultra-flexible synthetic rubber with the excellent shape-recovery property that is a characteristic of rubber, and a good fluidity, a characteristic of gel. Because it is a solid, it does not leak or flow out of the pad surface. Gently following the hand's movement in any direction, the material does not hinder even the subtlest movement of the hand.
A FITTIO mouse supports the natural movement of the user hand with the right angle and height to operate the mouse, and disperses body pressure most effectively with the right shape and material. In this way, the series reduces strain on the wrist and other parts of the body during operation of a mouse for a long period of time, and thereby alleviates user fatigue. Meanwhile, as its surface, the series features high-quality synthetic leather widely used in products for medical and esthetic fields. This material is easy to maintain and clean as dirt and stains can be easily wiped off using water, detergent or alcohol.
