Starting in the middle of May, ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku,
Osaka, Japan; President: Junji Hada) will release a new line of 20 sizes
of LCD protective film that greatly reduces the amount of blue light transmitted
by LED-backlit LCD displays, while protecting the display from scratches
and dirt.
Many people nowadays spend long hours staring at an LCD display, which has led to an increase in the number of people who worry about eye fatigue and dryness. It has been pointed out that the causes of these problems come from the negative impact that blue light generated by LED-backlit LCD displays has on the eye. This blue light is included in natural light, and is an essential component when displaying colors, but among visual light, it is the straightest and has the highest level of energy. It is said that because of this, blue light fails to be absorbed by the cornea and lens of the eye, and reaches the retina, which can lead to functional degradation in the membranes of the eye. If exposed to blue light for long periods of time, the ciliary bodies of the eye which cause the pupil to contract will be irritated, causing problems such as eyestrain, dry eye, and even suppression of the secretion of the sleep-inducing chemical melatonin, which can throw off the biological clock.
The EF-FLBL series greatly reduces this blue light. It's a protective film developed while taking into account the eyes of those who spend long hours in front of a computer display. With a low reflectivity rate of 0.9%, it suppresses screen glare, and it also cuts down on UV light that is harmful to the eyes and body by 99.6%, reducing the stress and strain on your eyes. The film is made so that it can protect your eyes from any viewing angle.
The design doesn't just efficiently cut down on blue light, but also greatly preserves color tones for a natural appearance. The image quality is also superb, with a high light transmission rate of 92%, pushing this LCD protective film a rank above the others.
It also features a high 3H surface hardness to thoroughly guard against scratches on the filter's surface. It uses a soft silicone film on the adhering surface, so bubbles will not be a problem, and the film can be easily applied. The film can even be reapplied, as it is a self-adhering type, and also comes with an exclusive spatula so you can cleanly apply the film. There is also a grid sheet on the reverse side, so you can cut to just the right size. The lineup comes in 20 different sizes to fit a wide variety of displays.
