Features/Usage

Selecting devices to customize with Mouse Assistant 6

Connected devices compatible with Mouse Assistant 6 will be shown.
You can select the device you wish to edit, switch between modes, reset configuration, or add devices.

Even if your device is not connected to a PC with ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 installed, unconnected devices will be displayed when you click on “Show hidden devices” on the main screen and turn this setting ON.

Button customization

Assigning functions to a device

Supported modes of operation:

You can assign your choice of functions to your device.

Usage

Functions will be automatically hidden if unavailable in hardware mode or based on your device.

Assigning keyboard commands to a device

Supported modes of operation:

You can assign functions such as keyboard “Press simultaneously”, “Press consecutively” (simple macros), and “Text” to buttons.
Frequently-used character strings are handy when creating keyboard shortcuts or sequentially pressing keys.

Usage

  • You can set up to six keys to be pressed simultaneously.
  • You can set up to six sequential presses to input.
  • You can also set emojis in text input.

Assigning executable files and applications

Supported modes of operation:

You can set a button to execute applications and files from your computer.
Improve work efficiency by executing frequently-used applications and files from a single button press.

Usage

Only applications, files, and shortcuts to these can be selected. Folders and Explorer cannot be selected.

Assigning gesture functions

Supported modes of operation:

You can assign functions to pointer movements.
Gestures consist of combinations of pointer movements - up, down, left, and right.
You can combine up to four stages in sequence, for a maximum of 160 gestures.
You can also configure different gestures for each profile, further expanding the number of combinations possible.

Usage

Expanding feature assignments by switching modes

Supported modes of operation:

Assigning “Mode change” will let you set up to two functions to buttons not assigned the mode change function.
The “Mode change” button will let you switch between main/sub modes, and allows you to configure more functions when used in combination.

Customizing profiles

For Mouse Assistant Mode

Switch profiles automatically by application

You can switch profiles automatically when using a specific application.
You can assign multiple profiles linked to applications.

Usage

If not linked to an application, the currently-enabled “General profile” will be selected automatically.

Profile sync

You can sync settings for multiple devices of the same connection type (wired/wireless/Bluetooth®, etc.) by enabling this.
Enabling this will overwrite all current settings for devices of the same type and sync your profiles.

Usage

  • This is enabled by default.
  • Disable if you wish to customize settings profiles by connection type.
Import/export profiles

You can import/export profiles for the device you are currently editing.
This is handy for carrying profile settings over to another computer or device.

Usage

  • Incompatible functions and settings will not be operable if exported to incompatible computers/devices.
  • Back-up data prior to Mouse Assistant 5 is not cross-compatible.

For Hardware Mode

Saving profiles to a device/Switching profiles

You can save up to three profiles on a device.
You can change profiles by setting “Switch profile” to a button.

Usage

A wired connection between computer and device is required while editing profiles in Hardware Mode.

Changing mouse pointer speed

Usage

Configurable DPI stages/maximum values vary by device.

Changing temporarily switchable pointer speeds

You can use this function by setting “Temporarily switch pointer speed” to a button.
You can change speed and mode of operation from the pointer settings screen.

Usage

Configurable DPI stages/maximum values vary by device.

Difference Between Hold and Switch

Pointer speed switches only while the button is held.

Pointer speed switches when the button is pressed, and switches back when the button is pressed again.

For devices only compatible with Mouse Assistant Mode

Changing mouse pointer speed

You can change pointer speeds from system settings.
Changes overall computer pointer speed.

1) Click (Settings) on the top right of the editing screen.

2) Click (Pointer settings).

3) Click “Open system settings”.



This launches the computer-side mouse settings screen.

■For Windows 11

This launches the “Mouse” settings screen.

1) Adjust mouse pointer movement speed on the “Mouse pointer speed” slider.

■For Windows 10

1) Displays “Mouse" properties.

Click [Other mouse options] under [Related settings].

2) Select the [Pointer options] tab.

3) Adjust mouse pointer movement speed on the “Select pointer speed” slider.

■For Mac

This launches the “Mouse” settings screen.

1) Adjust mouse pointer speed using the “Tracking speed” slider.

Customizing scrolling

You can change scrolling speed.
You can save different scrolling speed settings by profile.

1) Click (Settings) on the top right of the editing screen.

2) Click (Scroll settings).

3) Adjust the number of lines scrolled vertically with the “Vertical scroll speed” slider.

4) Adjust the number of columns scrolled horizontally with the “Horizontal scroll speed” slider.

Installing ELECOM Mouse Assistant

Windows

■Get ELECOM Mouse Assistant

Please access our website below and download Mouse Assistant 6.

■Install ELECOM Mouse Assistant

Before installing...

  • Connect your device. See your device manual for details.
  • Log in from a user account with admin privileges.
  • We recommend closing all Windows® programs (applications software).
  • The screenshots below are from Windows® 11. Screens vary by OS, but the procedures involved are identical.

1) Decompress the ELECOM_MA_Setup_x.x.x_x64(.zip) file (the x.x.x portion will vary depending on the current version) on your desktop or in another location after downloading.

The file may decompress when you click “Open file” after downloading, depending on your operating system.

2) Double click the ELECOM_MA_Setup_x.x.x_x64(.exe) file (the x.x.x portion will vary depending on the current version) in the decompressed folder.

3) The installer will launch.

Click the [Yes] button when the “User account controls” screen displays.

4) Select “English (United States)” from the language selection drop-down menu, then click [OK].

If you have other mouse utilities installed, click [Cancel] and uninstall these first.

Uninstalling older versions

The screen below will display if an old version of Mouse Assistant is installed.

  • A mouse compatible with both versions of Mouse Assistant may not function properly if you install Mouse Assistant 6 with an old version installed at the same time.
    Accordingly, we recommend uninstalling older versions when installing Mouse Assistant 6.
  • If you wish to continue using a mouse that is only compatible with the old version or otherwise do not wish to uninstall, click [No] and terminate installation of Mouse Assistant 6.

5) Click [Next].

6) Click [Install].

You cannot stop the installation after this point.

7) Click [Finish].

This will complete your installation of ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6.

If you check the “Launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6” box, ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 will launch.

■Launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6

1) When first launching ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6, double click the “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6” icon created on your desktop.

2) To open the ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 settings screen, right click the icon in the task tray or notification area then click “Open”.

Mac

Please access our website below and download Mouse Assistant 6.

■Install ELECOM Mouse Assistant

Before installing...

  • Connect your device. See your device manual for details.
  • If you have other mouse utilities installed from ELECOM or other companies, uninstall these first.
  • Log in from a user account with admin privileges.
  • We recommend closing all programs (applications software).

1) Double click the ELECOM_MA_Setup_ x.x.x.dmg file downloaded (the x.x.x portion will vary depending on the current version).

This will mount the disc image to your desktop and display a window.

2) Double click “ELECOM_MA_Setup_ x.x.x.pkg”.

The installer will launch.

3) Click [Continue].

Uninstalling older versions

By default, this installer will uninstall old versions of Mouse Assistant before installing Mouse Assistant 6.

  • A mouse compatible with both versions of Mouse Assistant may not function properly if you install Mouse Assistant 6 with an old version installed at the same time.
    Accordingly, we recommend uninstalling older versions when installing Mouse Assistant 6.
  • If you wish to continue using a mouse that is only compatible with the old version at the same time as this version or otherwise do not wish to uninstall, click “Customize” before clicking “Install” in step 5 to remove uninstallation of old versions of Mouse Assistant from the installer.

4) Click [Continue] when the “Destination Select” screen displays.

Clicking “Return” will take you back to the welcome screen.

5) Click [Install].

ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 installation will begin.
If you have an old version installed, it will be uninstalled as well.

If you wish to keep an old version of Mouse Assistant, click [Customize] and then remove the check from the box for uninstallation of old versions of Mouse Assistant among the custom install fields displayed before clicking [Install].

Clicking “Return” will take you back to the welcome screen.

6) Enter your password on the password input screen.

Please check with your computer’s administrator if you do not know the password.

File copying will begin.

You cannot stop the installation after this point.

7) Click [Restart] after installation is complete.

The system will restart.

This will complete your installation of ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6.

■Launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6

1) Click the icon in the Dock to launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6.

The icon will only be in the Dock for the user that installed the software. If you are not the user that installed the software, double click “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6” under “Move” > “Applications”.

2) Click the icon in the notification area at the upper right of the screen and then click “Open” in order to open the ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 settings screen.

  • If the screen below displays, click on “Open Accessibility”, then click on “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6” to allow accessibility to be enabled.

  • If the screen below displays, click on “Allow” to enable the use of Bluetooth.

Adding Devices

ELECOM Bridge G1000 USB Receiver Configuration

Add devices using our ELECOM Bridge G1000 USB Receiver.

Refer to the mouse manual regarding configuration of the connection destination via mouse.

*The following explanation is for “IST PRO”.

1. Set IST PRO connection configuration to a wireless connection ()

1) Connect the IST PRO to a computer with the included USB cable.

  • Any of , , , , , or can be used as the IST PRO connection method.
  • Either Mouse Assistant Mode or Hardware Mode can be used as the mode of operation.

2) Launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6.

3) Click the connected IST PRO on the home screen.

The IST PRO “Settings screen” will display.

4) Click “Connection settings ” on the main screen.

The IST PRO “Connection settings” screen will display.

5) Click on wireless connection () for the custom connection ( or ) under “Connection settings ” to change the connection method to wireless.

Connection settings for connection 1/2/3/4 cannot be changed with the IST PRO.

2. Perform wireless pairing for the ELECOM Bridge G1000 USB Receiver and IST PRO

1) Insert the ELECOM Bridge G1000 USB Receiver into a USB-A port on the computer.

  • Use a USB Type-C™ hub, etc. if your device does not have a USB-A port.

  • Check the connector orientation and location for connection carefully.
  • Check to be sure the connector shape and orientation are correct if there is significant resistance when plugging in the connector. Attempting to force the connector in can result in breakage or injury.
  • Do not touch the USB connector terminal.

2) Launch ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6.

3) Click “Device added” on the home screen.

4) Select and click on “ELECOM Bridge G1000” under “Select connection type”.

5) Select and click on the connection port you wish to use under “Select pairing port”.

The product will enter pairing mode.

6) Turn the IST PRO power ON, then turn the connection toggle dial to or .

You will need to select a wireless connection () for ELECOM Mouse Assistant 6 under “Connection settings ()” for or .

7) Hold the pairing button on the bottom of the IST PRO for 3 to 4 seconds.

The IST PRO will enter pairing mode, and the (orange) LED light on its side and (white) connection light on its bottom will begin to flash slowly.

8) Pairing is complete when “Connection complete” displays.

The (white) connection light on the bottom of the IST PRO will go off when pairing is complete. The orange LED on its side will flash two more times.

This completes pairing of the IST PRO and ELECOM Bridge G1000 USB Receiver.

FAQ

Enabling Copilot on Windows

Try the following procedure if you have assigned “Launch Copilot” to a device button without any effect.

  • Update your computer’s OS to the latest version.
    Copilot may not be supported if you are using an old version of your OS. Update your computer’s OS.
    Check here for system requirements for OS support.
  • Check whether Copilot is installed on your PC.

■Obtain Copilot

If Copilot is not installed on your PC, access the page below and download the application.

■Install Copilot

Follow the procedure below to install Copilot.

1) Double click the Microsoft Copilot Installer(.exe) downloaded.

Copilot installation will begin.

The installation may begin when you click “Open file” after downloading, depending on your operating system.

2) Copilot will launch when the installer finishes.

Copilot will be usable at this point.

Enabling Siri and Apple Intelligence on Mac

Try the following procedure if you have assigned “Launch Siri” to a device button without Siri or Apple Intelligence operating.

1) Click “System settings...” from the Apple menu.

The “System settings” screen will display.

2) Click “Apple Intelligence & Siri” under "System settings”.

This launches the settings screen.

3) Click “Siri” to turn the feature on.

If the screen below displays, click “Enable”.

4) Click “Language” and then click “English (United States)”.

5) Click “Apple Intelligence” to turn the feature on.

“Apple Intelligence” cannot be turned on unless “Language” is set to “English (United States)”.

Siri and Apple Intelligence will be usable at this point.
