Button function assignment page
You can change the functions assigned to each button using “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 5”.
Assignable functions
The following functions can be assigned to the mouse buttons.
Display name and explanation of function
- Left click
- Click on the left button.
- Right click
- Click on the right button.
- Safari: Back
- Go back to the previous page on Safari.
- Safari: Forward
- Go to the next page on Safari.
- Switch windows
- Shows the switch window page.
- Close the window
- Close the active window.
- Keep in Dock
- Minimise the active window.
- Middle click/auto scrolling (FireFox)
- Enable the middle click/auto-scroll function.
- Function is only applicable to Firefox.
- May not work properly when the buttons are assigned functions using the standard Macintosh mouse (Mighty Mouse).
- Command + C
- Copy the selected text or file.
- Command + X
- Cut the selected text or file.
- Command + V
- Paste the copied or cut text or file.
- Command + Z
- Undo the last operation.
- Command + Y
- Repeat the last operation.
- return
- The “return” key on the keyboard.
- esc
- The “Esc” key on the keyboard.
- tab
- The “Tab” key on the keyboard.
- option (alt)
- The “Option” (Alt) key on the keyboard.
- command
- The “Command” key on the keyboard.
- delete
- The “Delete” key on the keyboard.
- Save
- Save the file on the current application.
- Open Safari
- Open Safari.
- Finder
- Open Finder.
- System Preferences
- Open System preferences.
- Printer settings
- Open the print page in supported applications.
- Double click
- Double-click on the mouse.
- Switch Applications
- Activate application switcher.
- Zoom
- Turn on the zoom function.
- Exposé - All windows
- Use Exposé to show and line up all open windows using Exposé.
- Exposé - Application window
- Use Exposé to show and line up all open windows under the application in use.
- Exposé - Desktop
- Use Exposé to moves all windows off the screen and show the desktop.
- Dashboard
- Show Dashboard.
- Spotlight
- Search using Spotlight.
- Presentation mode ON/OFF
- Switch between Presentation mode ON/OFF.
- gesture
- Perform functions according to mouse trails.
- Left scrolling
- Scroll to the left.
- Can only be assigned to “+ Tilt left” or “+ Tilt right”.
- Can only be assigned to “+ Tilt left” or “+ Tilt right”.
- Right scrolling
- Scroll to the right.
- Can only be assigned to “+ Tilt left” or “+ Tilt right”.
- Can only be assigned to “+ Tilt left” or “+ Tilt right”.
- Arbitrary key
- Input the registered key.
- Volume Up
- Increase the volume for the entire Macintosh system.
- Volume Down
- Decrease the volume for the entire Macintosh system.
- Mute
- Mute the audio output for the entire Macintosh system. Audio unmutes when it is pressed again.
- Previous track
- Go to the next track on your media player, etc. during playback.
- Next track
- Go back to the previous track on your media player, etc. during playback.
- Play/Pause
- Pause playback on your media player, etc. Clicking this again will start the playback.
- Safari: zoom in
- Enlarge Safari pages.
- Safari: zoom out
- Reduce Safari pages.
- Off
- Click functions for the assigned buttons will be disabled.
How to assign functions
- Click on the “ELECOM_Mouse_Util” icon
on the Dock.
- If the Dock icon is deleted, click on “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 5” under System preferences.
Click on the icon on the open panel.

- Open the settings page.
- The following page will appear if it is the first time a mouse is connected.
If there are no settings files, click on the “Default settings” button.
If there is a settings file, click on the “Read the settings” button to use the saved settings.
- The following page will appear if it is the first time a mouse is connected.
- Under profiles, register the settings in the “ Buttons” tab or the “Gestures” tab to each program.
The profiles automatically switch according to the program in use identified, so you can use mouse functions for the program without changing the settings.
- On the “ Buttons” tab, you can specify settings such as the assignment for each button, horizontal scrolling speed and flying scroll.

Functions under “Assignable functions” may be assigned for each of the buttons listed. - Flying scrolling
You can set up high speed scrolling.
- Horizontal scrolling speed
Horizontal scrolling speed can be set to 8 levels.
- Functions that are unavailable for the mouse selected will not be shown in the settings.
- Button settings
- The assigned functions will not be reflected if the “OK” button is not clicked on.
If the “Undo” button is clicked, the settings will not be reflected and the settings page will close.- If “Left click” is not assigned to any button, the following message will appear.
If you click on the “OK” button, continue to reassign the function.
If you click on the “Return to previous settings” button, the previous settings (for the first time setting up, the default settings) will be shown on the page.
